A simple routine can help you to get your mouth clean and healthy.

1. This is simply brushing your teeth last thing at night and at least one other time during the day, with a fluoride toothpaste

Benefits of an electric toothbrush

  • Effective cleaning

The speed of the bristles of an electric toothbrush is effective in sweeping away plaque and food particles and cleaning all the surfaces of your teeth.

  •  Easy to use

Apply toothpaste, turn the toothbrush on, and move it over the front and the back of your teeth and over the flat surfaces of molars.

  • Stain Removal

An electric toothbrush remove unwanted stains and whiten your teeth.

  •  Fresher Breath

With an electric toothbrush your mouth feels cleaner and fresher for longer.

  •  Proven Long-Term Results

Studies have shown if you use your electric toothbrushes and follow the instructions, you will experience an 11 percent reduction in plague and a six percent reduction of gingivitis when compared to users who brush regularly with manual toothbrushes.

2. Cleaning between the teeth with ‘interdental' brushes or floss at least once a day

A recent study published in the Journal of Periodontology showed that an electric flosser, unwaxed floss, woven floss, and shred-resistant floss showed significantly greater plaque removal compared with tooth brushing alone. Patients using an electric flosser showed the highest average plaque reduction after one use.

If you find flossing difficult you can try cleaning between your teeth with Interdental brushes. Interdental brushes are small circular toothbrushes that you insert into the spaces between your teeth to clean the difficult areas.

If you don’t floss or use interdental brushes you only clean 40% of your teeth.

3. Choose food and drink best for your teeth

Eating Cheese, chicken or other meats, nuts, and milk are thought to protect tooth enamel by providing the calcium and phosphorus needed to remineralize teeth.

Firm fruits (for example, apples and pears) and vegetables have a high water content, which dilutes the effects of the sugars they contain, and stimulate the flow of saliva .Acidic foods, such as citrus fruits, tomatoes, and lemons, should be eaten as part of a larger meal to minimize the acid from them.

Sweets such as lollipops and mints, cakes, pies, breads, muffins, potato chips, pretzels, french fries, bananas, raisins, and other dried fruits contain large amounts of sugar and/or can stick to teeth, providing a fuel source for bacteria.

Drinking water (especially fluoridated water), milk, and unsweetened tea is the best for your teeth. Limit your consumption of sugar-containing drinks.

4. Regular dental check-ups.

A check-up allows your dentist to see if you have any dental problems and give you advice to you keep your mouth healthy.
